Monday 12th October- bike *** - Around Felixstowe including cuppa at Levington – mainly cloudy.

After 7 days of windsurfing last week it didn’t give use much chance to get out on the bikes so with lighter wind today and before the rain arrives, we were keen to get out on them today! Mag badly needs two new tyres which I forgot to order, they are perished with a large bulge in the rear one but we decided to take a chance today and with a flask made we set off to Levington Marina. Sadly, we only made it two miles before Mags tyre went off with a bang!!! having just crossed a level crossing. I quickly fitted the spare inner tube we carry but the tyre had a large hole so Mag decided to walk home while I carried on by myself:( I headed down to Trimley Marshes where they were working on the road making it much better with a small digger and roller! Then up onto the River Orwell path and with the tide low several birds were feeding in the mud. Past the three dead trees, Loompit Lake covered in swans and onto the bench by the windsurfing launch beach for a snack. I then had a quick word with foiler Jamie before heading inland, sadly no deer today so I crossed the railway line to Trimley, across the A 14 to Falkenham. Then down to Kings Fleet and the River Deben ending up at Felixstowe Ferry. Then back past the golf club to The Dip, The Fludgers, up Bent Hill and home. An OK bike ride in the glum but not much fun without Mag but I was still out 3 hours 30 minutes covering 18.54 miles. Then after some yummy homemade soup I ordered Mag some tyres, hopefully they will arrive soon!
